Sunlight

    Jil Sander - 2019

Researches for Jil Sander new perfum.

As part of a forward-looking study on the reinterpretation of Sunlight for JIL SANDER, I carried out a creative exploration of new shapes and materials for the bottle and its visual identity. Inspired by the low, slanting light of the sun and the minimalist architecture dear to the JIL SANDER house, I envisioned a sleek, almost sculptural object that captures reflections and plays with transparency.

    Jil Sander research.

This research led to several sketches and the creation of an exploratory mock-up in translucent resin, featuring asymmetrical volumes and prismatic effects to evoke both the strength and delicacy of sunlight. Despite initial interest in this approach, the project was not selected and remained at the mock-up stage, without further industrial development. Nevertheless, this work stands as a testament to the formal and sensory exploration conducted around the theme of light, and to my desire to infuse poetry and modernity into a perfume design.

    Mock-up.

In my material research, I explored the combination of silver chrome finishes to evoke a sense of modern elegance, along with iridescent transparent elements that capture shifting light and create subtle rainbow reflections. These materials were chosen to enhance the interplay between light and shadow, reinforcing the poetic dimension of the design while remaining true to Jil Sander’s minimalist aesthetic.
